Global Awareness on Open Account Export Transaction & Recent Policy Changes
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) in partnership with the Bangladesh and United Arab Emirates Chapters of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) held a virtual awareness event on Open Account for Exports and Recent policy Changes for the Central Bank on Thursday the 18th of March, 2021.
Key remarks were delivered by Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, President, International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh, and the scene was set by Mr. Muhammad A.(Rumee) Ali, Chairman, ICC Bangladesh Banking Commission
Mr. Steven Beck, Head of Trade and Supply Chain Finance in the Asian Development Bank (ADB), discussed the evolution of advanced trade finance products and the 50% increase of ADB’s trade finance activity in Bangladesh in 2020.
Dr. Prashanta Banerjee, Professor & Director, Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM), provided a rich outline of the evolution of Open Account Trade in Bangladesh including key challenges and opportunities.
The highly interactive session was moderated by Vincent OBRIEN, Director of ICC UAE and Member of Executive Committee, and was attended by industry experts, senior representatives from the commercial banking sector, and attracted more than 455 participants from 26 countries.
