ICC UAE participated as supporting organization to the GTR Mena Trade & Export Finance Conference 2018 held on 19th – 20th February 2018 at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai, UAE. The event is the most established and comprehensive market gathering for the Mena region's trade experts, fintech innovators, bankers, government bodies and corporates of all sizes. This 15th installment of the GTR Mena Trade & Export Finance Week added onto last year's discussions with an evaluation of recent global events and their impact on the region, regional hotspots and sectors. The programme featured interactive sessions and country-specific workshops which provided the 600+ delegates in attendance with different perspectives and a well-rounded outlook of the current geopolitical & economic situation in the OPEC. The conference also addressed recurring topics such as the possibility of renewed US sanctions against Iran and their impact on oil prices, how disputes & sanctions are impacting hubs like Dubai, analyzed these countries' trade & export patterns (focusing on the region's commodities), identified the new main trading partners of the UAE (like India and China) and measured the impact of VAT on the GCC and its SMEs. |

Organized by ICC UAE and hosted by Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the "VAT RETURNS Workshop" aimed at helping the business community to prepare the VAT Return and file the same without any errors before the due date as per the requirements of the Federal Tax Authority. The workshop helped companies from different industries to understand the requirements of the VAT Law and the Executive Regulations in terms of preparation and filing of the VAT Return with ease and ensure proper compliance. The focus of the workshop was on the gathering of information and how the information needs to be captured in the VAT Return at the end of the Tax Period. At the end of the workshop, participants were issued ICC certificates. |

As part of the 6th ICC MENA Conference on International Arbitration, the ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF) organized a conference on the topic of the anticipated new UAE arbitration law – overview and expectations. The conference looked at the imminent introduction of the new arbitration law in the United Arab Emirates, discuss its impact on arbitration users and the legal landscape, and how the new law might effectively function.
The conference was aimed at young arbitration practitioners of approximately 40 years or under: counsels, arbitrators, corporate counsels or academics. The ICC YAF Conference was an ideal forum for young practitioners to exchange thoughts on international arbitration and to enrich their network in the region. |

The 7th Supply Chain Finance Summit was organized by the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) Academy in partnership with ICC UAE and hosted by Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The event gathered over 200 leading CFOs, corporate credit and risk managers, corporate treasurers, bankers, and vendors to promote the discussion and assessment of issues affecting supply chain finance.
In its seventh edition, the Summit provided a unique opportunity to learn from experienced corporations and bankers about their visions and strategies in the new area of supply chain finance. The one-and-a-half-day agenda of the event covered a wide range of issues: optimizing SCF for SMEs & corporates, fintech powered alternative finance, One Road One Belt initiative, keeping SCF secure and more. The agenda has been carefully designed to address topics that are globally important and from a Middle East perspective. Highlights of the event included a presentation of the latest ICC Academy free course on ICC Code for Ethical Marketing & Advertising (EMA) as another example of the ICC Academy's efforts to reduce the industry's information and knowledge gap. |
