ICC-UAE, ICC Secretary General discuss future cooperation

Meeting focused on organisations’ roles in facilitating global trade and economic development
ICC and Dubai Chamber to host ICC Customs and Trade Facilitation Commission Meeting in Dubai May 17-18th

Dubai, UAE: The UAE Chapter of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC-UAE) recently hosted John Danilovich, Secretary General of the Paris-based International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s head office for a meeting to discuss key areas of mutual cooperation.

During the meeting, H.E. Humaid Mohamed Ben Salem, ICC-UAE Chairman, highlighted the organisation’s role in promoting the competitiveness of the UAE’s business community and achieving the ICC’s objectives of promoting and facilitating global trade.

H.E. Ben Salem explained that the ICC-UAE enjoys strong ties with chambers of commerce around the world and the Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, adding that the organisation represents the UAE business community and its interests in transactions related to international trade.

Danilovich updated ICC-UAE members on the granting of UN General Assembly Observer Status to the ICC and other developments related to the ICC’s International Court of Arbitration.

The meeting also highlighted the re-launch of the ICC-UAE Commission on Arbitration, Banking and Customs and Trade Facilitation, the role of the ICC and ICC-UAE to facilitate global trade and economic development, and potential for expanding the ICC’s presence in the Middle East.

The ICC-UAE Secretary General added that the organisation will host the next semi-annual meeting of the Customs and Trade Facilitation Commission at the Dubai Chamber’s head office on May 17th and May 18th. The meeting will focus on the commission’s strategic work agenda on customs, trade facilitation, transport and logistics, further building on the discussions at the last meeting in November 2016.

Established in 2004, the ICC-UAE Chapter represents the commercial, industrial and business enterprises in the country at a global level, and promotes the scope and reach of the UAE business community around the world.
