BACKGROUND

Dr. Reyadh Al-Kabban, an Iraqi national, established Al Kabban & Associates, Advocates and Legal Consultants in 1993, which has since become a name synonymous with success and is well known in the legal circuit. The success of the law firm that specializes in advising commercial companies, insurance companies, banks, government and private clients in their business, investment and other affairs inside and outside the region and its dedication towards offering unparalleled, high quality and culturally sensitive legal services while adhering to the highest standards of integrity and excellence.

Dr. Al-Kabban has dedicated more than 49 years of his life to the noble profession. He was admitted as a lawyer in the year 1971. He worked as an Advocate and Legal Consultant with the Iraqi Oil Company from 1975-1977. He studied at the Judicial Institute of Baghdad, Iraq from 1977-1979. He served as a Judge in the Court of First Instance in Basra, Iraq for 10 years from 1979-1989. He worked as an Advocate with Bujassem & Al Maliki- Advocates & Legal Consultants (Dubai) from 1989-1993. From there, he went on to establish his own law firm, Al Kabban & Associates, Advocates and Legal Consultants. Dr. Al-Kabban is also a member of Transitional Justice in Iraq and the Coordinator of Transparency and Anti-Corruption Committee in a project titled- “Future of Iraq”. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Department of Private Law and Public Law, International and European Law, Faculty of Law and Financial Studies, Glasgow University from 1988-1992. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Maritime Law, Southampton University from 1992-1995 and at the Department of Law, School of Oriental and African Studies – University of London from 1995-2003.


ACADEMIC

1971 - LLB (Hons) from the University of Basra in Iraq Excellence received - graduated the second from Basra
1974 - Diplomas in Public Law & Tax Legislation which are equivalent to LLM from the University of Cairo in Egypt
1988 - PHD from Glasgow University in Scotland Specializing in Maritime Law
1988 - Diploma in Forensic Medicine from Glasgow University in Scotland


ARBITRATION AND LITIGATION

Dr. Reyadh Al-Kabban is a highly experienced Arbitrator, who has engaged in over 150 arbitrations since 1993. He has been involved in a variety of arbitration cases dealing with all aspects of civil, corporate, commercial, construction and real estate disputes, acting as sole arbitrator or chairman of tribunals in many such cases. Dr. Al-Kabban is also deeply involved in consultation and solicitor work, practicing under all fields of law and advising on all aspects of civil, construction and commercial laws.

His experience before the Courts is even more impressive. Dr. Al-Kabban has been practicing in the UAE for over 33 years and has extensive experience in litigation pertaining to civil, criminal, labour, banking and finance, insurance, intellectual property, corporate disputes, cyber law, construction law, aviation, immigration, real estate, and maritime matters. His experiences as a Lawyer, Judge, Arbitrator and Managing Director of his own Dubai private legal practice has provided him with the technical advantage, vast knowledge and experience that has labelled him as one of the highly respected members of the Dubai legal sector.

Dr. Al-Kabban is registered with several legal institutions across the UAE and internationally. He is a member of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Sharjah International Commercial Arbitration Centre, Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre (ADCCAC), GCC Commercial Arbitration Centre in Bahrain, International Chamber Of Commerce (ICC), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) Users’ Council and the International Bar Association (IBA).
